The Members

The Rackham Symphony Choir, under the direction of Suzanne Mallare Acton, is a 100-member all-volunteer choir. Our diverse membership comes from all corners of the metropolitan area and contributes to our unique musical and stylistic blend. Many of our singers are classically trained and sing with the Michigan Opera Theatre but are drawn to membership in Rackham for the challenge of performing new, unique, unconventional works.

The Experience
Singing with the Rackham Symphony Choir is a rewarding experience. The works we perform are unique and challenging. We build our musical foundation on the classic choral works and we take on cutting edge musical works to bring these to the community. Learn more about our past performances. The Choir is an independent, non-profit organization, whose members are dues-paying volunteers and selected by audition.

High School Vocal Internship Program

Announcing the 2010-2011 Interns!

For the 2010-2011 season, the choir will accept two students to participate in the RSC High School Vocal Internship Program. Selected singers will:

Receive private professional vocal instruction by an approved instructor at no cost. (If student selects a teacher whose fees exceed voice lesson allowance the balance will be the responsibility of the student)

Enjoy full membership in Rackham Symphony Choir with dues waived for the 2010-2011 season

Train with the choir under Maestra Suzanne Mallare Acton, RSC’s Artistic and Music Director and Assistant Music Director and Chorus Master of Michigan Opera Theatre

Perform large scale choral works with the choir, accompanied by professional orchestras

Be mentored by members of the Rackham Symphony Choir.
