| Join Us! The Rackham Symphony Choir is interested in attracting talented singers who have a passion for music and are ready to accept challenges. Singing members are selected by audition from among experienced choral singers throughout the Detroit metropolitan area. Singing with the Rackham Symphony Choir is a challenging and rewarding experience. We perform 3 or 4 major works each year. Click here to learn more about our past performances. As a singing member, you can expect to have fun, and work on challenging, non-traditional works. We perform in a variety of venues with frequent guest conductors and guest artists. The Rackham Symphony Choir is committed to the highest standards of quality. If you are interested in Auditioning… Auditioning is easy. First, simply complete the Audition Application Form. Our Music Director will contact you to schedule an audition. Singers should be prepared to sing one piece of music and should bring an extra copy for the pianist. Accompaniment will be provided. You may be asked to sight read and vocalize. Most auditions take about 15 minutes. The upcoming season includes the choir returning to the lakefront town of Lexington, Michigan for the Lexington Bach Festival; the return of their holiday hit Too Hot To Handel at the Detroit Opera House in December and Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre in January; the Michigan premiere of Beatitude Mass: A Mass for the Homeless, in Detroit and A Night at the Theatre, featuring music from Opera to Broadway in Detroit. Rackham Symphony Choir is a membership, dues paying group that rehearses weekly for approximately 9 months a year in preparation for three to four presentations each season. Qualified high school students and other members may qualify to receive a full scholarship for their dues. |
