The Rackham Symphony Choir is interested in attracting talented singers
who have a passion for music and are ready to accept challenges. Singing
members are selected by audition from among experienced choral singers
throughout the Detroit metropolitan area.
Singing with
the Rackham Symphony Choir is a challenging and rewarding experience.
We perform 3 or 4 major works each year. Click

perform in a variety of venues with frequent guest conductors and guest
artists.

If you are
interested in Auditioning…
Auditioning is easy. First, simply complete the
Audition Application Form.
Our Music Director will contact you to schedule an audition. Singers should
be prepared to sing one piece of music and should bring an extra copy
for the pianist. Accompaniment will be provided. You may be asked to sight
read and vocalize. Most auditions take about 15 minutes.

Rackham Symphony Choir, noted for their multi media and multi
cultural works, is launching their most ambitious membership drive
for the 2008- 2009 season.
Auditions will be held by appointment only on June 12 for singers of
all voices, soprano alto, tenor and bass. Singers must complete an
application and request an audition online at www.rackhamchoir.org.

The Rackham Symphony Choir is
interested in attracting talented singers who have a passion for
music and are ready to accept challenges. Members are selected by
audition from among experienced choral singers throughout the
Detroit metropolitan area. Members work on challenging,
non-traditional pieces under the direction of Music Director Suzanne
Mallare Acton.
The upcoming season includes the
choir participating in two live recordings. The concerts include An
Evening of Theatre Favorites--Opera to Broadway with the Lexington
Bach Festival in September of 2008; Too Hot To Handel-Detroit’s
sizzling holiday celebration in December of 2008; Dear Mrs.
Parks--with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to be recorded live in
March 2009 and The Armed Man: A Concert for Peace-uniting film,
orchestra and choir to be recorded live in April 2009.
Rackham Symphony Choir is a
membership, dues paying group that rehearses weekly for
approximately 9 months a year in preparation for three to four
presentations each season. Qualified high school students and other
members may qualify to receive a full scholarship for their dues.

Acton, conductor, include Let My People Go! A Spiritual Journey
Along the Underground Railroad, 2008; The Armed Man: A Concert for
Peace, 2007 and RSC original film The Armed Boy; Jump, Jive, Swing &
Sing: A Tribute to the Songs of the 1940’s with the Fats Waller
Revue, 2006. Others are The Holocaust Cantata, 2005 at Holocaust
Memorial Center Grand Opening; Voices of Light, 2002 with composer
Richard Einhorn and their signature Too Hot to Handel: Premiered in
Detroit 2002, Chicago 2006.
Since 1949, Rackham Symphony Choir
has been presenting choral music of the highest artistic quality.
Our members just love music- both traditional choral shows and
innovative multi -media presentations. Members are of all ages and
